  • Softball Comes Up Empty in Day One of Triangle Classic

    RALEIGH, N.C. – The Mississippi University for Women’s softball team played hard on day one of the Triangle Classic Softball tournament, but the Owls were unable to catch a victory falling 1-0 to William Peace University in an eight-inning game one and 12-9 to North Carolina Wesleyan College.

    COLUMBUS, Miss. – After a home-opening sweep versus Crowley’s Ridge College, the Owls baseball team will return to the Columbus High School Baseball Field to take on Rust College on Friday, Feb. 23. The Owls, now 3-3 on the season, look to continue their winning streak as they take on the Bearcats in doubleheader action.
  • Softball Stuns Concordia, 19-3, 10-2

    SELMA, Ala. – The Mississippi University for Women’s softball team traveled to Selma, Ala. to take on Concordia College – Alabama in its first road games of the season. In a high scoring doubleheader, the Owls stunned the Hornets 19-3 and 10-2 to advance to 5-1 on the season and to improve to a four-game winning streak.

    COLUMBUS, Miss. – Madison Scoggin and Ciara Steward picked up their first wins on the mound to help lead their team in a doubleheader sweep over Huntingdon College. The Owls advance to 3-1 on the season, defeating the Hawks 9-1 and 10-2 on Sunday, Feb. 18 at Don Usher Field.

  • Baseball Rallies for Late Game Comeback and the Sweep

    COLUMBUS, Miss. – After a tough start, the Mississippi University for Women’s baseball team rallied to score nine runs in seventh inning to defeat Crowley’s Ridge College 14-13 in the final game of the series. The Owls improve to 3-3 on the season and complete the sweep in the home opener series.

    COLUMBUS, Miss. _ The Mississippi University for Women’s baseball team picked up its first two wins in its inaugural season on Thursday, Feb. 15. The Owls faced Crowley’s Ridge College in an evening doubleheader and defeated the Pioneers 5-4 and 11-1 to advance to 2-3 on the season.

    COLUMBUS, Miss. – The Owls baseball team will play in front of their home crowd earlier than expected as the original times have been moved due to possible inclement weather. Now, The W will take on Crowley’s Ridge College on Thursday, Feb. 15 in a 4 p.m. doubleheader and on Friday, Feb. 16 at noon.
  • Softball Splits Doubleheader Season Opener Against Millsaps

    COLUMBUS, Miss. – The Owls softball team took the field for the first time in 15 years on Sunday, Feb. 11 at the newly renovated Don Usher Softball Field. The W faced Millsaps College in doubleheader action for its 2018 season opener and was able to split the day with a 12-1 loss and a 7-2 victory.
  • Owls Unlucky in Day Two at Dallas

    IRVING, Texas – The Mississippi University for Women baseball team had a much better outing in day two of the University of Dallas series but was unable to grab a victory. The Owls fell 11-4 in game two of the series and 6-5 in game three of the series to allow the Crusaders to complete the three game sweep.

    COLUMBUS, Miss. – Director of Athletics Jason Trufant and the Owls athletic program would like to take the time to congratulate the 51 scholar athletes who worked hard in the classroom to garner GPAs of 3.0 or better during the fall 2017 semester. Because of their academic efforts, the 46 scholars have been named to the 2017 Athletic Director’s List. Of the 51 scholars, 25 received GPAs of 3.5 or better and six maintained perfect 4.0s.
