  • Bernard Grabs First Half Goal in the 3-1 Loss at Centenary

    SHREVEPORT, La. – The Owls men’s soccer team grabbed an early lead against the Gents of Centenary College, scoring the first goal of match. After half time, The W was unable to keep up the momentum going to allow three goals in the second. The Owls dropped the match 3-1 to the Gents on Saturday, Oct. 13.
  • Women's Soccer Match at Centenary Called Due to Rain

    SHREVEPORT, La. - The Owls traveled to Shreveport, La. to take on the Ladies of Centenary College on Saturday, Oct. 13. Each team was able to score a goal before the game was called due to rain. 
  • Owls Cross Country Closes Season at MC Invitational

    CLINTON, Miss. - The Owls men’s and women’s cross country team competed in the Mississippi College Invitational on October 13.  The men ran an 8k and the women ran a 6k. 
  • Welcome to the Owls Danica
    Danica, a local 4-year old girl, was diagnosed with a Wilms tumor in July. This is a cancer of the kidney that is common to children. The tumor and kidney have been removed. Danica has completed radiation treatments and is now undergoing several months of chemotherapy. She and her parents are staying at Ronald McDonald House at St Jude’s for now. The W Athletic Department has adopted her as a member of the Owls and will be hosting several events at games to promote pediatric cancer to raise funds and awareness.   • Jabari Williams Named October's Renasant Athlete of the Month

    COLUMBUS, Miss. – The W Athletic staff has selected Jabari Williams as the October Renasant Athlete of the Month. Jabari has exemplified the four core values of Owls Athletics: Academics, Community, Life, and Athletics.
  • Rodriguez Scores Goal, Owls fall 3-1

    JACKSON, Miss – The Owls men's soccer team competed in a tough match against Belhaven University. This match was a hard fight and the Owls did not give up. Despite all efforts victory was not successful in today's match, losing the match 3-1. With the loss, The W move to 3-8-1 on the season.

    JACKSON, Miss – The Owls women's soccer team defended well against Belhaven University. Even with their tremendous efforts in today's match, the Owls were unable to come out with a win, losing the match 2-0. With the loss, The W moves to 2-11-0 on the season.
  • Volleyball Hangs Tough with Rhodes

    COLUMBUS, Miss. – The Owls volleyball team worked hard against NCAA DIII opponent Rhodes College on Tuesday, Oct. 9. The W battled back from point deficits and continued long rallies in an attempt to gain a victory over the Lynx. Even with the newfound energy, the Owls were unable to stay ahead of Rhodes falling in three sets (16-25, 16-25, 21-25).
  • Owls Finish Third in the USCAA National Golf Championship

    STATE COLLEGE, Pa. – The Owls men’s golf team reached a high point during its inaugural season by placing third at the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) National Golf Championship on Tuesday, Oct. 9. The W shot 3-over-par in the last round on Tuesday to best 20 of the 23 fielded teams and finish the two-day event with a score of 590 (299-291,14-over).
  • Owls Bounce Back with 7-1 win over LaGrange

    COLUMBUS, Miss. – The Owls women's soccer team demonstrated remarkable efforts in the match against LaGrange College on Sunday, Oct. 7 at the Columbus Soccer Complex. In the last home game of the season, the Owls presented a victory against the Panthers, 7-1 improving its season record to 2-10-0.

    CLINTON, Miss. - Saturday, Oct. 6, the women’s cross country team competed in the Mississippi College Watson Ford Invitational.  The Owls competed against several NCAA DI and DII including Troy University, Tarleton State, Mississippi College, Jackson State, Mississippi Valley State, Southern University, Alabama A&M, and the University of Louisiana – Monroe. They also ran against DIII foe Belhaven University.

    CLARKSVILLE, Ga. – The W men’s golf team participated in the 13th Annual Piedmont College Fall Invitational on Monday, Oct. 1 – Tuesday, Oct. 2. During the Owls second outing, The W competing against 11 other teams for a 7th place finish. After finishing the first round in last place, the Owls finished with a score of 652 to best four other teams.
  • Gilliand Grabs Three Saves in 1-0 Loss at Sewanee

    SEWANEE, Tenn. – The Owls women’s soccer team falls to 1-10 on the season after a 1-0 loss to the Sewanee Tigers on Tuesday, Oct. 2. The W played great defense but was unable to get the offense going in the loss to Sewanee.

    SEWANEE, Tenn. – The Owls men's soccer team found a 1-1 draw at Sewanee on Tuesday, Oct. 2. Despite a well-played second half by both teams, neither team were able to come out on top in the double overtime as tie was called at the end of regulation.
  • Volleyball Drops Military Appreciation Match Versus Belhaven

    COLUMBUS, Miss. – The Owls volleyball team started off strong during its Military Appreciation Game against in-state foe Belhaven University. The W battled for every point in the first set to force a scoring war but it was not enough to keep the Owls on top. After a 27-25 loss in the first set, The W was struggled to keep the momentum going, closing the match under the Blazers in three; 25-27, 10-25, 14-25.
  • Owls Men's Soccer Conquer a Win, 2-1

    COLUMBUS, Miss. – The Owls men's soccer team prepared well for its match at home against Hendrix College on Sunday, Sept. 30. The W defeated with tremendous effort on the field and ended the match with a 2-1 victory over the Warriors to improve its season record to 4-6-0.

The W mounted a great defense and limited unforced errors to play a great game against the Tigers. Despite the effort, the Owls were unable to defeat Sewanee, falling in three sets (12-25, 19-25, 13-25)
  • Volleyball Falls 3-0 to Huntingdon in Home Opener

    COLUMBUS, Miss. – The Owls volleyball team hosted Huntingdon College on Thursday, Sept. 27 in its 2018 home opener. The W started the match strong but was unable to finish, falling 3-0 (24-26, 22-25, 9-25) to the Hawks.
  • Volleyball Outlasts Judson for 3-2 Victory

    MARION, Ala. – The Owls volleyball team played its best match of the 2018 season at Judson College on Tuesday, Sept. 25. The W pushed back when down to defeat the Eagles in the first five set match of the season, 3-2.
  • Owls Struggle to Tame the Panthers at BSC

    BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Owls were unable to tame the Panthers in Tuesday night’s men’s soccer match at Birmingham Southern. The W played well defensively but the Owls struggled to get the offense going. The Owls fell 2-0 to Birmingham Southern for their sixth loss of the season.

    TOUGALOO, Miss. – Mid-season fatigue is beginning to settle into the Owls volleyball team. The W did well statistically during the University of Dallas Volleyball Tournament but struggled during a Tuesday match against Tougaloo College. The Owls were unable to get their game going and fell 0-3 (2-25, 9-25, 13-25) to the Bulldogs on Tuesday, Sept. 18.
