MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Mississippi University for Women men's soccer team falls 0-3-1 on the season with a 6-0 loss on Saturday evening to Rhodes College during the Greg Volgas Memorial Tournament.
Owls soccer struggled against the Lynx defense and was unable to get a shot pass Rhodes defenders but The W goalkeepers did their best to stop the bleeding with four saves and six goals allowed.
Throughout the match, the Lynx tallied 25 shots with 11 on goal.
"Rhodes was a seasoned team and played before an energetic crowd," said head coach Tim Gould. "Their speed of play and commitment to attack gave us problems as they jumped on us early. We settled down in the second half and did a better job absorbing their attack. We need to learn from today's match as we seek a better result tomorrow against Hendrix."
The Owls will get a second shot on a weekend win when they take on Hendrix College in day two of the Greg Volgas Memorial Tournament. Kick-off is scheduled for 2 p.m.
