The Owls Athletics staff has named softball player Megan Cummins as the March 2020 Rensant Bank Athlete of the Month due to her amazing performance on and off the field during the month of February. In the Owls 8-4 opening run, the junior outfielder was a force at-bat, playing in 12 games for six runs and 16 hits (two doubles) for nine RBIs and one stolen base. She currently holds a .457 batting average, a .537 on-base percentage, and a .514 slugging percentage.
“Meg is a great player and an even better person and teammate,” said Owls softball assistant coach Heidi Matthews. “She always comes out to the field with a positive attitude and is always looking to get better. She encourages her teammates and leads by example. She is definitely a good role model for younger and incoming players.”
The Madison, Miss. native is studying kinesiology here at The W and holds a 3.43 overall GPA.
Cummins and the rest of The W softball team will return to action on Saturday, March 7 when they travel to Tuscaloosa, Ala. to take on Stillman College in doubleheader action at noon.
