Owls Suffer Loss Against Crowley's Ridge

COLUMBUS, Miss. – The Owls baseball team was unable to complete the sweep against Crowley's Ridge College, dropping the third and final game 10-3 on Friday, March 8. The misstep marks The W second loss of the season to fall to 7-2.

The Pioneers struck first in the top of the first inning with a two-run homer.

They added two additional runs in the fifth and four in the sixth to advance their lead to 8-0.

Not be counted out, the Owls offense came alive in the eighth for late game scoring.

With one out, Prince Tolbert doubled to push RJ Cox to third and in scoring position.

The effort would pay off as RJ Cox scored on the next play on a pass ball while Tolbert advanced to third and then scored on a triple by Reese Wagner

A sacrifice fly from Heath Ford would bring Wagner home and close the Owls scoring rally.

At the plate, Cox led the Owls with a 3-for-4 appearance with one run while Ford and Wagner recorded an RBI each.

Pitching the first five innings of the game, Will Peters was credit with the loss on the mound. The Tallassee, Ala. native delivered six strikeouts and saw five hits against and four earned runs.

Courtlan Frost and Luke Hobson also saw action on the mound during the effort. Frost pitched 1.0 innings while Hobson closed the game with three innings pitched for one strikeout, five hits against, and two earned runs.
