COLUMBUS, Miss. – The Owls men's basketball team could not get the offense going in its miss against Tougaloo College on Tuesday night. The W saw just 48 points in the 74-48 loss to fall to 1-6 on the season.
Senior forward DJ Clark led the Owls in scoring, going 8-16 from the field and 1-2 in 3-point range for 17 points. He also tied fellow Owl Keith Harris with seven rebounds to lead the Owls in the effort.
Josh Skinner, a junior guard, lent 10 points to the Owls offense. The Starkville, Miss. native went 4-9 from the field and 2-5 in 3-point range to round out The W's double-digit scoring.
"We struggled tonight on the offensive end," said head coach Brian Merkel. "I thought we played hard but just couldn't get into a good rhythm offensively. I need to do a better job of putting our guys in positions to be successful."
As a team, the Owls went 32.3 percent from the field, 27.8 percent outside the arc, and 20.0 percent at the free throw line.
The Bulldogs shot 41.7 percent from the field, 20.0 percent in 3-point range, and 52.6 percent at the line.
The Owls will return to action on Thursday, Dec. 6 when they travel to Bethel University. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.
