MCKENZIE, Tenn. - After almost two weeks off from competition, the Owls men's basketball team returned to the court Thursday night against Bethel University in McKenzie, Tenn. The W struggled offensively versus the Wildcats and was unable to pull ahead to fall 107-60.
Tavonta Jones had his best night of the season with a season high of 23 points. The junior guard went 8-for-17 from the field, 1-for-1 in 3-point range, and 4-for-4 from the line to be the night's leading scorer. The Meridian, Miss. native also pulled down four rebounds and two steals to aid in the effort.
DJ Clark, senior forward, also had a good night with 16 points. The Indianola, Miss. native grabbed three boards with one assist and one block.
As a team, the Owls shot 33.8 percent from the field, 16.7 percent from behind the arc, and 72.7 percent from the free-throw line. The Wildcats shot 49.4 percent from the field, 39.4 percent in 3-point range, and 60.9 percent at the free-throw line.
The Owls will return to action on Saturday, Dec. 8 when they host Southern University - New Orleans at 4 p.m. Bring an unwrapped toy for the MUW Toy Drive for free admission.
