BLUE MOUNTAIN, Miss. – Freshman guard Quin Williams led the Owls for the first time this season with a season-high of 20 points against the Toppers. The Columbus, Miss. native shot 9-for-10 from the field, 1-for-1 in 3-point range, and 1-for-4 at the free-throw line to trail the game high by two points. New to the Owls starting line, Williams also contributed five boards and five steals in the effort.
Also heading up the Owls offense, Tavonta Jones went 8-for-17 from the floor and 3-for-7 beyond the arc for 19 points. The junior guard also collected six rebounds for his team during his time on the court.
Bringing down five offensive boards and eight defensive boards, senior forward DJ Clark recorded a game high of 13 rebounds. He also went 6-for-13 from the field and 5-for-6 at the free throw line to lend 17 points to The W scoring.
Despite several bright spots offensively, the Owls were unable to outlast Blue Mountain during Tuesday night's game. Crippled by missed shots at the free-throw line, the Owls fell 77-74 to the Toppers in Tyler Gymnasium.
As a team, the Owls shot 44.1 percent from the field, 28.0 percent in 3-point range, and 46.7 percent at the line.
Blue Mountain shot 43.1 percent from the field, 29.2 percent in 3-point range, and 51.9 percent at the line.
The Owls will return to action on Monday, Dec. 17 when they travel to Waxahachie, Texas to take on Southwestern Assemblies of God University. Tip-off is set for 5 p.m.
