Free-Throws Prevent Owls Exhibition Victory at Delta State

CLEVELAND, Miss. - The Statesmen were successful in silencing Owls leading scorer Keith Harris which gave senior forward Carlos Wilkerson the opportunity to step up. The Cottondale, Ala. native put up 12 points in The W men's basketball team's exhibition game against Delta State University. The Owls lost the battle at the line to fall 69-55 to the Statesmen.

Despite a struggle in scoring, Harris led the Owls in rebounding, bringing down a team-high 11 boards. 

The W was more accurate from the floor than its opponent, going 21-for-56 (37.5 percent) while holding Delta State to 21-for-60 (35.0 percent). The Statesmen edged out the Owls in three-point range, scoring 7-of-30 (23.3 percent) while The W shot 3-for-13 (23.1 percent).

Delta State won the game at the free-throw line, making 20-of-26 (76.9 percent). The Owls were held to 52.6 percent, making 10-of-19. 

The W will return to the court on Saturday, Nov. 23 when they host Southeastern Baptist College in its 2019-20 Home Opener. Tip-off is set for 4 p.m.
