Comeback Efforts Fall Short for Men's Basketball, 70-66

JACKSON, Miss. – Tyler Jackson scored 21 points and Milos Zeradjanin scored 16 off the bench, but the Owls men's basketball team saw a 70-66 loss against Hendrix College on Saturday in its first game of the Millsaps Thanksgiving Classic.

Tre Pinkston, a senior guard, put up 10 points in 28 minutes to be the only starter in the double-digits while Carlos Wilkerson and Keith Harris led the Owls rebounding effort with six boards each.

The  W (2-4) hit 17 of its 59 (28.8 percent) field goals, while Hendrix connected on 21 of 57 (36.8 percent). The Owls were 8 of 33 (24.2 percent) from behind the arc, while the Warriors were 2 of 19 (10.5 percent) from three-point range. The W made 24 of 38 (63.2 percent) from the line, while Hendrix converted 26 of its 36 (72.2 percent) chances at the line.

Hendrix (3-4) had three players in double figures, led by Seth Stanley, who scored 20 points and dished out nine rebounds. Carl Fitch had 14 points with seven rebounds and Jacob Link had 11 points with a game-high 11 rebounds.

The Warriors held an early lead over the Owls, going on a 10-3 run to open the game. They would hold that lead throughout the first half with the largest lead coming with four minutes left in the period with a score of 26-16.

The second half was more closely contested with the Owls 17-7 run to tie the game at 51. The game continued to be tight but the Warriors were able to hold a small lead to close the game with a 70-66 victory.

The W returns to action on Sunday, facing host-school Millsaps College at the Hangar Dome at Millsaps college. Tipoff is set for 5 p.m. CT and the game can be seen: HERE.
