Men's Basketball Stalls at Champion Christian, 88-83

HOTSPRINGS, Ark. – Senior guard Tre Pinkston led the Owls with a game-high 27 points on the road against Champion Christian College Saturday afternoon. Despite the effort, The W was unable to come back from a slow first half to defeat the Tigers. The Owls fell 88-83 inside Champion Christian Community Center.

Aiding Pinkston in scoring, senior guards Keith Harris and Tavonta Jones put up 13 points each. Harris, a Starkville, Miss. native, also had a team-high 7 rebounds. Rounding out the double-digit scoring, Brien Kimmons added 11 from the bench.

As a team, The W shot 32-for-72 (44.4 percent) from the field, 7-for-33 (21.2 percent) from beyond the arc, and 12-for-19 (63.2 percent) at the line. Champion Christian hit 30-of-67 (44.8 percent) from the floor, 9-of-27 (33.3 percent) in three-point range, and 19-of-28 (67.9 percent) at the free-throw line.

The Tigers outrebounded the Owls, 49-36, and outscored The W on second-chance points, 15-13. The Owls had fewer turnovers, 14-11, and scored more points in the paint, 42-30.

The W men's basketball team returns to action on Tuesday, Feb. 4 when they travel to Lyon College. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. CT.
