ALEXANDRIA, La. – The W men's golf team traveled to Alexandria, La. this week to participate in its first tournament of the inaugural season. The Owls first tournament was the Louisiana College Fall Invite hosted by Louisiana College at the Links on the Bayou. As a team, the Owls shot a two-round total of 633, which earned them a fifth place team finish. The W posted five strokes better than the host school and 37 strokes over tournament winner LeTourneau University.
The second round of the tournament was a much improved than the team's first round. Every Owls golfer improved by a least one stroke in round two and the team improved its overall performance by 13. Also in the second round, all five Owls golfer shot 80 or better.
Individually, it was Brandon Walker that led the Owls, shooting a team best 76 (+4) in the second round and starting strong in the first round to earn a top 15 finish. With an overall score of 153 (+9) and a first round score of 77 (+5), Walker was the only Owl to finish with multiple sub-80 rounds.
Dylan Cash also finished top 20 for the Owls with an overall score of 159 (+15). Cash finished day one with a score of 82 (+10) but had a great showing in round two with a score of 77 (+5).
The Owls will be back in on the course on Sunday, Sept. 30 when they travel to Demorest, Ga. to participate in the 13th Annual Piedmont College Fall Invitational.
