MADISON, Miss. – Led by junior Dylan Cash the Owls men's golf team finished play at the Mississippi College Spring Invitational in Madison, Miss. in fifth place on Tuesday. Cash finished eighth for his first top-10 finish to lead the way for The W.
Cash boasted rounds of 77-71-74 to finish the tournament with a 222 and 6-over scorecard to finish the match with his best numbers as an Owl.
The Columbus, Miss. native began his round with two even 4-par holes. He suffered his first bogey at the 5-par fifth hole but recovered with two more even par holes. In the third round of the tournament, Cash collected birdies at the third, ninth, 12th, and 15th holes but saw bogeys at the fifth, eighth, 11th, 14th, 16th, and 17th holes to finish the round two-over par.
Junior Brandon Walker turned in an even-par round in the last round of the tournament. The Vardaman, Miss. native began Tuesday with seven straight even-par holes. Walker saw a birdie at the eighth hole and shot even at the ninth to finish the front nine one-under par.
In the back nine, Walker saw three-straight even-par rounds but bogeyed at the 13th and 14th. He hit birdies at the 15th and 18th for an even-par 72. Walker tied fellow Owls Matthew Palmer for 22nd overall and third on the team hitting previous rounds of 82 and 78
With rounds of 72-78-78, Scola tied for 17th and finished second on the team with 228 and a 16-over scorecard and Coleman Suber finished 28th overall with rounds of 77-80-81.
The Owls will return to the course on Monday, April 15 when they compete in the Rhodes College Golf Invitational for their final outing of the season.
