Owls Place 5th in USCAA Golf Championship, Suber Named All-American, Three Receive Academic Honors

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. – After a day of rain, the 2019 United States Collegiate Athletic Association Golf Championship was shortened to a one-round event and 20 teams took over Penn State Blue Course to make their mark in the national tournament. The Owls men's golf team played a little below its season average but was able to grab a 5th place finish with an overall score of 310. As a team, The W was 12-over par and 18 strokes over first place winner St. Mary of the Woods.

Coleman Suber was the top contender for the Owls. The junior golf scored two-over par to finish 14 overall and receive 2019 USCAA All-American Second Team honors.

Brandon Walker placed 18th overall, one stroke behind Suber and Zach Riley and Dylan Cash finished with a score of 80 and 81 respectively.

Brady Scola played as an individual and finished nine-over par with a score of 81. He placed 48th overall.

Achieving GPAs greater than 3.5, Coleman Suber, Brady Scola, Brandon Walker were named to the 2019 USCAA All-Academic team. For the second year in a row, Suber and Walker received the honor.  

With the championship behind them, the Owls will continue to compete and are focused on their next tournament. The Owls' next tournament will be the Piedmont Fall Invitational in Demorest, Ga. on Monday, Oct. 14-Tuesday, Oct. 15. Tee time is set for 8 a.m. EST.
