COLUMBUS, Miss. - The Owls men's soccer team played an intense game against Huntingdon College. Despite getting good field positions and defending aggressively at the right moments, The W fell 6-3 to Hawks on Wednesday, Sept. 19 during the Owls first Faculty/Staff Appreciation Game. The Owls fall to 2-4 on the season.

Michael Ledbetter, sophomore forward played his best match yet against the Hawks. The Columbus, Miss. native scored two of the Owls three goals in Wednesday's match.

After falling behind in the first half 3-0, Ledbetter scored the Owls first goal of the match 11 minutes into the second half.

Just eight minutes later, Andrew Bernard, scored a goal of his own to cut the Hawks lead to 3-2. Huntingdon did not let the two goals go unanswered and extended its lead with two back-to-back goals.

Ledbetter scored the Owls last goal of the match with less than 10 minutes left but it was not enough for an Owls victory. The Hawks went on to score the last point of the game to close the match in favor of Huntingdon 6-3.

In addition to Ledbetter's two goals, Ledbetter recorded four shots leading his team in shots and goals.

In front of the goal, John McGee and Jakob Williams recorded 45:00 of playing time each to allow three goals a piece.

The Owls will be back in action on Sunday, Sept. 23 when they travel to Mount Berry, Ga. to compete against Berry College. Kick-off is scheduled for 12 p.m CST.
