Columbus, MS – The MUW men's soccer team fell to Birmingham Southern by a score of 2-1 Tuesday night at Sprint Mart Field.
Despite the Owls defense, the Panthers were able to score the first goal of the game in the 37th minute when Adrian Castro sent one in with the assist by Alessandro Junior. Birmingham Southern's Christian Hernandez connected with Alessandro Junior at the 56th-minute mark to give the Panthers a 2-0 lead at the time.
The Owls offense was slow out the gate but looked poised to go into the second half ready to score. The Owls offense broke through with a goal at the 65th minute when Junior Kyle Rodriguez sent a header into the back of the net with help from Senior Andres Martinez.
In the goal, Junior John McGee played the entire 90 minutes with six saves for the Owls.
The Owls will be back on the field Saturday, Sept. 28 when they travel to Warren Wilson College for a 12 p.m. kick-off.
