CONWAY, Ark.– The Owls were unable to outlast the Warriors in Friday night's soccer match. Hendrix men's soccer team scored a late overtime goal to take the match 2-1 over The W. With the loss, Owls move to 2-6-3 on the season.
In the first half of the game, both teams competed with all efforts but were not successful in scoring. Jacob Thomas entered the second half with a different perspective and scored the Owls' only goal at 69:46 with an assist from Hunter Holdiness.
The W ended the match with nine shots and five shots on goal, whereas the Warriors ended the match with 20 shots and eight shots on goal.
Junior, John McGee, spent the first half of the game defending the Owls goal. During the second half and overtime Junior, Selvin Lopez defended the Owls goal. Between the two goalkeepers, they tallied six saves with two goals allowed in the loss.
The Owls will be back in action on Sunday, Sept. 6 when they host Oakwood. Kick-off is set for 2 p.m. at the Columbus Soccer Complex.
