Ledbetter Scores Two Goals in Owls 5-0 Victory

COLUMBUS, Miss. – The Owls men's soccer team recorded their fourth win of a long season on Sunday, Oct. 6 when they defeated Oakwood University 5-0. 

Just a minute into the match, junior Michael Ledbetter scored the Owls first goal. 

Five minutes later, Brayan Resendiz, assisted by Jacob Thomas scored his first and the Owls second goal of the game to put The W head of Oakwood 2-0.

Continuing throughout the first half, Ledbetter scored another goal at 16:44 with an assist by Hunter Holdiness.

The W continued to fight hard to stay ahead of the Ambassadors and at 38:26 a fourth goal was scored by Thomas to bring the Owls to a 4-0 lead.

Entering the second half, each team played well defensively to close scoring opportunities on both sides of the field. Within 20 minutes of the second half, Kyle Rodriguez made a way to the goal to score for the Owls. 

Overall, the W played aggressively and redeemed themselves finishing the match 5-0.

In front of the goal, Selvin Lopez was on goalkeeper duties. The Memphis, Tenn. native allowed zero goals to keep MUW ahead of Oakwood.

The Owls will be back in action on Thursday, Oct. 10 when they host Talladega College. Kick-off is set for 6 p.m.
