LANCASTER, Texas – The Owls men's soccer team did a full sweep this week during their Texas-swing, defeating Arlington Baptist College 9-1 and Southwestern Adventist College 6-0.
In the game against Arlington Baptist, Michael Ledbetter led the Owls with a hat trick, scoring three goals on five shots. The junior forward also collected an assist in the effort.
Freshman midfielder Zerick Brown was also a top scorer against the Patriots. The Atoka, Tenn. native scored two goals on three shots and Joshua Frankenstein, Josh Martin, Jacob Thomas, and Brayan Resendiz all scored one goal each.
The Patriots lone goal came in the 31st minute of the matchup, giving junior keeper Selvin Lopez one goal allowed and one save during his 45-minute first half.
Freshman keeper David McCutchen took over the second half with two saves and no goals allowed.
Ledbetter had a second hat trick in the 6-0 shutout against Southwestern Adventist. The Columbus, Miss. native tallied seven shots with all three shots on goal landing to score for the Owls.
Aiding in the offensive effort, Martin, Brown, and Hunter Holdiness scored one goal apiece.
In front of the goal, Lopez played the entire 90 minutes for seven saves.
The Owls move to 6-7-3 on the season, bringing them closer to competing in the USCAA National Championship Tournament.
The Owls will return home on Saturday, Oct. 26 when they host Arlington Baptist. Kick-off is set for 11 a.m.
