Men's Soccer Grabs No. 6 Seed in USCAA Championship Tournament

COLUMBUS, Miss. – The Owls men's soccer team will make its first appearance in the USCAA Soccer Championship Tournament after concluding the 2019 regular season 7-7-3 and being selected as the No. 6 seed overall.

The W went on a four-game winning streak to close the season, recording the best record in program history and to end the regular season with a bang.

The championship tournament will take place at the Virginia Beach Sportsplex in Virginia Beach, Va. The six teams will participate in FIFA-style pool play with The W playing in Pool B against No. 2 University of Maine - Fort Kent and No. 3 Florida National University.

The three teams will play a three-game aggregate match-up and the pool winner will move on to play in the championship title game.

Leading The W's offense with 27 points, Michael Ledbetter has had an amazing season including hat tricks in two games. The Columbus, Miss. native has tallied 13 goals so far with one assist and 45 total shots.

In the goal, junior keepers John McGee and Selvin Lopez have split duties. McGee has played and started in seven games for 20 saves and a .667 save percentage while Lopez has played in 13 games with 10 starts for 33 saves and a .660 save percentage.

In their first outing of the tournament, the Owls will face Maine – Fort Kent on Thursday, Nov. 7 at 1 p.m.
