DEMOREST, Ga. – After a very successful four-game series at Converse College, the Owls softball team was unable to duplicate the success at Piedmont College. The W dropped both games of the doubleheader, 7-5 and 8-4 to go 12-10 on the season.
GAME ONE (L, 7-5)
Pitching her third complete game of week and her sixth complete game of the season, junior pitcher Madison Scoggin (5-4) was credited with the Owls loss on the mound. The Bay Springs, Miss. native stayed in the pitcher's circle for six innings to record one strikeout, 12 hits against, and seven runs (five earned).
At the plate, Heidi Matthews had the most accurate performance with a three at-bat appearance for three hits but was unable to convert the time at the plate to runs or RBIs.
GAME TWO (L, 8-4)
Playing in the eighth game in four days, the long week was apparent in the arms of the Owls pitching staff. Four W pitchers took the mound during the match-up but junior left-hander Ciara Steward was credit with the loss. With the loss, the Bruce, Miss. native falls to 2-2 on the season.
After a long week on the road and a few days of rest, the Owls softball team will bring the game back home on Tuesday, March 20 when they host William Carey University. The first pitch for the doubleheader match-up is scheduled for 2 p.m.
