  • Softball Finishes Third in the Small College World Series

    DUBOIS, Penn. – The Owls softball team finished third in the USCAA Small College World Series with back-to-back losses in the semifinal round to end their bid to the championship game. Senior pitcher Madison Scoggin pitched all four games of the tournament for a 1.08 earned run average on 26 innings pitched. She tallied 16 strikeouts with only two walks for four earned runs and 25 hits against.
  • Softball Advances to the Semi-Final Round of the Small College World Series

    DUBOIS, Penn. – The Owls softball team advances to the semi-final round of the USCAA Small College World series with Tuesday’s 5-0 victory over Penn State University – Hazelton. Owls ace pitcher Madison Scoggin pitched her 14th complete game to improve to 13-4 in her senior season.

  • Four Softball Players Receive All-American Honors, Nine Named to All-Academic Team

    DUBOIS, Penn. – The United Collegiate Athletic Association announced its All-American softball teams, major awards, and All-Academic team at the 2019 USCAA Small College World Series pre-tournament luncheon at the DuBois Country Club Sunday afternoon. The Owls saw four players receive All-American honors while nine players were named to the All-Academic team.

  • Softball Splits Road Doubleheader at Millsaps

    JACKSON, Miss. - The Owls softball team split a doubleheader with in-state rival Millsaps College on Tuesday, April 16 at the Millsaps Softball Complex. The Owls dropped game one 3-2 but had a fierce comeback for a 8-2 victory in game two. The Owls move to 22-9 on the season.

    NORFOLK, Va. - The Owls baseball team move us in the Week 2 USCAA Coaches Poll to tie UC-Clermont at the number three spots. The softball team remains steady at number two but with just one vote less than number one's Clearly University the Owls are on the verge of taking the top spot in Week 3. 
  • Owls Sweep Talladega in Midweek Doubleheader

    MOODY, Ala. – The W softball team traveled to Moody,Ala. for a doubleheader on Wednesday versus NAIA opponent Talladega College at Moody City Park. Due to heavy rain during the week, the Talladega softball field was underwater, so the two teams moved the competition to a neutral location.

  • Owls Split Last Home Double Header with Stillman

    COLUMBUS, Miss. – The Owls softball team hosted Stillman College in its last home doubleheader of the 2019 season. This was the second time the two teams faced each other on the field with The W sweeping the Tigers 1-0 and 7-2 on the road. The Owls attempted to repeat the road success at home but were only able to take one game of the doubleheader winning the first game 9-1 in five innings and dropping the second 2-0.
  • Owls Split Senior Day with Anges Scott

    COLUMBUS, Miss. – The Owls softball team hosted Agnes Scott in a homecoming doubleheader on Saturday, March 30. The W put up a great fight against the Scotties to split the day with a 6-0 victory and a 5-2 defeat.
  • Softball Takes Rust in Doubleheader Action, 15-0 and 11-2

    HOLLY SPRINGS, Miss. – The Owls softball team traveled to Holly Springs, Miss. to take on Rust College in doubleheader action on Friday, March 29. Following a sweep over Judson College at home, The W was able to repeat the feat on the road, taking down the Bearcats in the first game 15-0, and claiming the second win, 11-2.

    COLUMBUS, Miss. – The W softball team (15-6) battled USCAA-sister institution Judson College (11-11) in doubleheader action Wednesday evening inside of Owls Park at Don Usher Field. The Owls came from behind in both games to sweep the Eagles 3-2 and 6-3.
  • Owls Split Tuesday Doubleheader with MVSU

    COLUMBUS, Miss. – The Owls softball team took on Mississippi Valley State University, an NCAA Division I opponent, in doubleheader action on Tuesday at Don Usher Field. Strong offensive play continued to roll for the Owls in game one as they won 6-2, but errors crippled The W in game two for a 9-5 loss.
  • Scoggin Named USCAA Softball Pitcher of the Week (March 19)

    Madison Scoggin of Mississippi University for Women is the USCAA Softball Pitcher of the Week. In the team’s 12-3 start to the season, Scoggins has an ERA of under one with 32 strikeouts in 43 innings on the mound. The senior has started seven games and has gone the distance in six of those starts. Her highlight game thus far came against Penn State DuBois where she gave up zero earned runs on 11 strikeouts.

    MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Owls played well defensively against NCAA Division II opponent Huntingdon College on Wednesday, March 20. The W prevented the Hawks from scoring in most of the innings but were unable to get runs on the board to suffer a doubleheader sweep.

    COLUMBUS, Miss. – The Owls softball team defeated Rust College back-to-back in doubleheader action Wednesday afternoon to open the 2019 season at Don Usher Softball Field. The Owls downed the Bearcats 15-0 in both matchups to begin the season 2-0.
  • Owls Softball Opens 2019 Season at Home Against Rust

    COLUMBUS, Miss. – Following a historic comeback season in 2018, in which the Owls softball team finished fifth in the United States Collegiate Athletic Association Small College World Series, The W now turns its attention to the 2019 season, which kicks off on Tuesday afternoon at 2 p.m. CT. The Owls will open the season at home in doubleheader action against in-state rival Rust College on Don Usher Field.
