Owls Grab 7th Shutout of the Season to Sweep Penn State DuBois in 3-Game Series

COLUMBUS, Miss. – Junior Madison Fields was perfect at the plate for the Owls on Tuesday afternoon in an 11-0 win over Penn State DuBois at Don Usher Field. The third and final game of the series marks the seventh shutout this season for The W to put the Owls at 9-2 overall.

Despite ending the game in five innings due to the run-rule, the Owls scoring effort started late with the first run being scored by Fields in the bottom of the third inning on a pass ball.

In the bottom of the fourth, the Owls scored the 10 remaining runs on eight hits and two errors. In the effort, Kandler Flora and Anna Kate O'Bryant doubled and Madison James, Lauren Duckworth, and Carolyn "Kendall" Wilkinson recorded a single each.

Fields, an outfielder from Raleigh, Miss., made two plate appearances for two hits, two runs, and two RBIs. O'Bryant and James tied Fields with a game-high of two RBIs while Wilkinson tied Fields for a game-high of two hits.

On the mound, freshman Donna Douglas took the mound in the third inning for the first victory of her career. She pitched 2.1 innings for 2 hits against and two strikeouts.

Amelia Stalter started the game for the Owls to pitched 2.2 innings for two hits against, two walks, and two strikeouts.

If weather permits, the Owls will be back in action on Friday, March 8 when they host Westminster College. The first game of the doubleheader is set from 5 p.m.
