COLUMBUS, Miss. – The Owls women's basketball team was victorious once again in its Tuesday night pursuit against Tougaloo College to improve to 6-1 on the season. The W mounted a strong offense and dominated defensively to defeat the Bulldogs 84-66.
Rokila Wallace, a junior guard, put up a season high of 24 points to lead the Owls offense. The Columbus, Miss. native went 7-10 from the field, 2-3 in 3-point range, and 8-11 at the line in her strongest performance wearing the Owls jersey. She also tallied five rebounds, six assists, and four steals to aid in The W effort.
Bailey, a junior small forward, recorded her third double-double of the season with 11 rebound while Keyahna Jones led the Owls in rebounds with a game-high of 13.
As a team, the Owls improved their field goal percentage to 52.7, shooting 50.0 percent from beyond the arch. At the free-throw line, The W landed 22 of 34 for a 64.7 free-throw percentage.
Tougaloo shot 33.3 percent from the field with a 16.0 percentage in 3-point range. The Bulldogs made 10 of 11 free throws to make 90.9 percent of their shots.
The Owls will be back in action on Saturday, Dec. 1 when they host Rust College. Tip-off is set for 3 p.m. Come out and support The W women's basketball team as they look for home court revenge against the Bearcats.
