COLUMBUS, Miss. – The Owls women's basketball team was unable to battle back against Rust College falling 63-53 Saturday afternoon. The W falls to 5-2 on the season with its only losses being against the Bearcats.

Leading the Owls offense, Qiayon Bailey went 7-12 from the field and 3-10 at the free-throw line for 17 points. The West Point, Miss. native also recorded 10 rebounds for her third double-double of the season. She also tallied one block and one steal.

Also aiding in Owls scoring effort, Rokila Wallace went 4-8 from the field and 3-4 at the free-throw line for 11 points. She also grabbed six boards, three assists, and five steals.

Rounding out the Owls double-digit scoring, senior forward Tenazhia Hinkson recorded 10 points, one assist, and two steals. The Pearl, Miss. native also brought down a game-high of 11 rebounds to record her first double-double of the season.

As a team, The W went 41.3 percent (19-46) from the field and 55.6 percent (15-27) from the free-throw line. The Bearcats went 36.1 percent (22-61) from the field, 33.3 percent (9-27) from beyond the arc, and 62.5 percent (10-16) from the free-throw line.

"We were 15 for 27 from the free-throw line and had 34 turnovers, mostly unforced, which made it difficult to be in a position to win," said head coach Howard White. "My guards have to play better and be able to handle the pressure. We did do a good job rebounding the ball and our forwards and centers played well. We will go back to the drawing board and we will correct some things."

The Owls will be back in action on Tuesday, Dec. 4 when they travel to Marion, Ala. to take on Judson College. Tip-off is set from 5:30 p.m.
