BLUE MOUNTAIN, Miss. – The Owls women's basketball team goes 2-0 against the Toppers defeating Blue Mountain College for the second time this season, 76-67 on the road. Seeing improvement from last night's game against Berry College, The W improves to 9-2 on the season and maintains its number one position in the United States Athletic Association Coaches Poll.

Leading the Owls in scoring, junior forward Qiayon Bailey scored an MUW career-high of 26 points versus the Topper defense. The West Point, Miss. native went 11-for-20 from the field and 4-for-6 from the free-throw line for the game high. During the game, she also brought down four offensive rebounds and three defensive rebounds for seven boards.

Columbus native Rokila Wallace also had a big night. The junior guard went 7-for-14 from the field, 2-for-4 beyond the arc, and 7-for-8 at the free-throw line to trail Bailey with 23 points. In the effort, she also collected four rebounds, one assist, and two steals.

As a team, the Owls beat their season average in all three shooting categories. In the field, the Owls went 28-for-65 for a 43.1 percentage and 4-for-9 in 3-point range for a 44.4 shooting percentage. At the line, The W landed 16-for-25 for a 64.0 free-throw percentage.

The Toppers saw a slight improvement from their last outing against the Owls. The Blue Mountain offense shot 39.4 percent from the field, 28.6 percent in 3-point range, and 50.0 percent at the line.

"Tonight the Owls got a good win on the road to beat a tough Blue Mountain team," said head coach Howard White. "We were very aggressive on the offensive end of the floor, scoring most of our field goals in the paint. We got the ball inside and did a great job offensively rebounding the ball. Down the stretch, we were able to make them take a lot of bad shots which we turned into transitions baskets. Overall, we were dominating on both ends of the floor, executing our offense and communicating on defense."

The Owls women's basketball team will return to action on Thursday, Dec. 13 when they host Philander Smith College at Pohl Gymnasium. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m. Come out and support The W women's basketball team as they look for their one more home victory before the Christmas break.
