MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Junior guard Rokila Wallace dropped a career-high 35 points in the Roland Arena against Huntingdon College on Saturday, Dec. 15. The Columbus, Miss. native went 9-for-19 from the field, 4-for-7 in 3-point territory, and 13-18 at the line for the game-high while collecting a game-high of five steals with five boards and one assists.
Despite the offensive effort, Huntingdon out-shot The W for the Owls third loss of the season. Falling 92-78, The W moves to 10-3 on the season.
Junior guard Autumn Taylor had a good night against the Hawks. The Newton, Miss. native went 7-for-13 from the field, 1-for-3 from behind the arch, and 5-for-7 at the free-throw line to pull in 20 points for the Owls. She also brought down seven rebounds, five assists, two steals, and one block during the effort.
To round out the double-digit scoring, junior center Keyahna Jones put up 10 points.
As a team, the Owls shot 43.9 percent (25-for-57) from the field, 38.5 percent (5-for-13) in 3-point range, and 57.5 percent (23-for-40) at the line. Huntingdon shot 49.2 percent form the field (31-for-63), 43.3 percent (13-for-30) in 3-point territory, and 81.0 percent (17-for-21) at the line.
The Owls will take two weeks off during the Christmas break before returning to the court on Saturday, Dec. 29 to take on Belhaven College on the road. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m.
