Women's Basketball to Host Voorhees College

COLUMBUS, Miss. – After a brief stop in Jacksonville, Fla., The W women's basketball team returns home on Tuesday to take on Voorhees College at 5:30 p.m. CT inside Emma 'Ody' Pohl Gymnasium.

The W (2-6) has had a rocky start to the 2019-20 season and is hoping to get back on track in this week's home action. With victories over Centenary College and The University of the South, the Owls losses were decided by 20 points or less.

As a team, The W averages 63.1 points per game while its opponents have a slight edge to average 69.1 points per game. From the floor, the Owls shot 41.6 percent, including 28.9 percent in the three-point range. At the line, The W makes 57.3 percent of its shots.

Heading up the offense, senior guard Autumn Taylor averages 14.8 points per game with 9.3 rebounds. Last week, she had a great outing at Trinity Baptist, putting up a career-high 31 points.

Also carrying the Owls in scoring is junior forward Kyla Temple and senior forward My'Neka Frazier. Temple averages 12.1 points per game with a 31-point performance at Centenary College.

Frazier, averaging 10.8 points and 12.4 rebounds, is the only Owl averaging a double-double.

Voorhees (5-9) averages 63.8 points per game, shooting 37.5 from the floor, 25.3 in three-point range, and 56.7 at the free-throw line. The Tigers lead scorer is Ca'washa Ceasar who averages 14.5 points per game.
