Women's Basketball Prepares for Road Trip to Centenary

COLUMBUS, Miss. – After a long week of competition, the Owls women's basketball team continues its week-long stretch as it returns to the road to face Centenary College of Louisiana on Saturday, Dec. 14 inside the Gold Dome at 1 p.m. CT.

The W (2-8) defeated the Ladies earlier in the season on its home court 62-54 and look to repeat the feat on the road. The Owls will have to up their defensive game and limit turnovers to have success again against the Louisiana foe. In ten games, The W has suffered 205 turnovers while forcing only 129. Owl opponents average 22.7 points off turnovers alone.

As a team, the Owls average 61.0 points per game and 41.5 rebounds. From the floor, The W is 229-562 (40.7 percent), including 40-of-144 (27.8 percent) from beyond the arc. At the line, the Owls are 112-of-195 (57.4 percent).

The Owls offense is led by senior guard Autumn Taylor. The Newton, Miss. native averages 13.8 ppg and 8.8 rebounds per game. She also leads the team in steals (15) and assists (32).

Other Owl standouts are Kyla Temple who averages 12.8 ppg and My'Neka Frazier who leads the Owls in rebounds, averaging 11.7 per game and is responsible for 10.0 ppg.

Centenary (0-6) will be hunting for its first victory of the season. The Ladies put up 50.3 points per game while shooting 30.8 percent from the field, 25.0 in three-point range, and 48.0 percent at the free-throw line. Centenary's offense is led by junior guard Alex Williams who averages 13.2 ppg.
