Women's Basketball Suffers Devastating Defeat at LSU - Shreveport, 80-29

SHREVEPORT, La. – The Owls women's basketball team dropped its first game of 2020, 80-29, at LSU-Shreveport Saturday afternoon. With the loss, The W moves to 3-11 on the season.

The Owls offense was led by senior guard Autumn Taylor. The Newton, Miss. native put up 7 points with 6 rebounds, two assists, two steals, and one block. Christianna Harris, Jasmine Shaw, and My'Neka Frazier assisted in scoring with six points each. Frazier also led in rebounding with a game-high seven boards.

The W struggled to make baskets in Saturday's competition. From the floor, the Owls went 9-for-48 (18.8 percent) and 2-for-8 (25.0 percent) in three-point range. At the line, The W made nine of its 17 attempts for a 52.9 percent free-throw percentage.

The Pilots had a much better game than The W, shooting 39.0 percent from the field, including 26.9 percent in three-point range, and shooting 75.0 percent at the line.

Fu'tra Banks led LSU-Shreveport in scoring with 15 points and 10 rebounds.

The Owls will return to action on Monday, Jan. 6 when they travel to Southern University of New Orleans. Tipoff is set for 5:30 p.m.
