Women's Basketball Falls 70-52 at Oakwood

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – Senior forward My'Neka Frazier recorded her ninth double-double of the season in the 70-52 loss at Oakwood University Sunday afternoon. The McComb, Miss. native tallied a team-high 18 points and a game-high 12 rebounds against the fellow USCAA-institution.

Senior guard Autumn Taylor contributed 12 points to the effort while freshman forward Rachael McGrew trailed Frazier with 11 boards.

As a team, the Owls (4-13) went 21-for-65 (32.3 percent) from the field and 4-for-14 (28.6 percent) in three-point range. At the line, the Owls made 6-of-11 for a 54.5 percent free throw percentage.

Oakwood (2-14) was led offensively by Regine Ellis-Parker with 21 points. Ellis-Parker scored all of her points beyond the arc for the game-high. As a team, the Ambassadors were 26-for-70 (37.1 percent) from the floor and 3-for-28 (25.0 percent) from three-point range. At the line, they made 11-of-15 shots for a 73.3 percent free throw percentage.

The Owls offense was cripple by turnovers with 31 to Oakwood's 18. The Ambassadors capitalized on The W's miscues to score 25 points on exchange while holding the Owls to 13. Oakwood also performed better in the paint 28-24 and in bench points 18-2. In rebounding, The W edged out Oakwood 52-41.

The Owls will be back in action on Wednesday, Jan. 22 when they host Tougaloo College. Tipoff is set for 5:30 p.m.
