Women's Basketball Comes Up Short, Falling to Tougaloo, 89-65

TOUGALOO, Miss. – Jasmine Shaw led her team for the first time this season, scoring 18 points, and seniors My'Neka Frazier and Autumn Taylor collected 14 each, but the 12th ranked Owls women's basketball team lost at Tougaloo College 89-65 on Thursday evening at Owens Health and Wellness Center.

Shaw, a freshman guard, connected on six of 10 from the floor, including three of five from behind the arc. She also made all three of her free throws during the game.

Frazier recorded her 13th double-double of the season with a team-high 10 rebounds. Taylor led The W in assists, tallying five.

As a team, The W made 24 of 57 (42.1 percent) shots from the floor including four of 11. At the free-throw line, the Owls connected on 13 of 17 (76.5 percent).

The Bulldogs hit 39 of 81 (48.1 percent) shots from the floor and 5 of 23 in three-point range. At the free-throw line, Tougaloo hit six of 14.

The Owls will be back in action on Thursday, Feb. 20 when they host Oakwood University in their final game of the 2020 season. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m. and the senior night presentation will take place immediately after.
