CHAMPION, Pa. – In his first year as the head coach of The W women’s basketball team, Howard White has been named the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) Women’s Basketball Division I Coach of the Year at the USCAA Basketball Division I Brunch Banquet on Wednesday, March 6.
COLUMBUS, Miss. – The number two ranked Owls women’s basketball team was selected to participate in the United States Athletic Association (USCAA) Women’s Division I Basketball Tournament on Tuesday, Feb. 26. The W (18-6) were seeded No. 2 overall and will play 7th seeded Carlow University (9-21) in the first round Thursday, March 7 in Penn State Fayette Main Arena. The game will be streamed at basketball.theuscaa.com and will tip-off at 2 p.m. ET/ 1 p.m. CT.
SELMA, Ala. – Junior guard Qiayon Bailey led The W in its 72-43 victory over Selma University on Tuesday, Feb. 19. The West Point, Miss. native went 9-for-12 from the field including 1-for-2 beyond the arc and picked up three baskets at the free-throw line to lead the Owls with 22 points in their final regular season game of the 2019 season.
HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – The Owls women’s basketball team took on fellow USCAA team Oakwood University on Saturday, Feb. 9 for the second time this week. Defeating the Ambassadors 83-42 at home, it was much of the same on the road in Ashby Gymnasium.
COLUMBUS, Miss. – The Owls women’s basketball team defeated Oakwood University 83-42 during its final home game of the 2018-19 season. Owls senior Tenazhia Hinkson was honored during the game as she donned The W uniform for the last time in Emma ‘Ody’ Pohl Gymnasium.
SUMTER, S.C. – The Owls women’s basketball team ends its South Carolina swing on a high note, defeating Morris College 78-49 on Saturday, Feb. 2. With the victory over the Hornets, the Owls move to 15-6 on the season.
DENMARK, S.C. – Owls women’s basketball suffers its first road loss in the second half of the season on Thursday, Jan. 31 at Voorhees College. The W played aggressively but were unable to overcome turnovers and missed free throws to fall 14-6 on the season.
COLUMBUS, Miss. – The W women’s basketball team defeated USCAA sister-institution Judson College 70-49 to improve to 14-5 on the season. In this season’s second USCAA competition, the Owls limited fouls and led in rebounds to dominate the competition.
COLUMBUS, Miss. – Qiyaon Bailey scored 16 points while Tenazhia Hinkson went for this season’s fourth double-double with 16 points and season-high 14 rebounds in the Owls victory over Morris College. Saturday afternoon, The W defeated the Hornets 79-62 on their home court in Emma ‘Ody’ Pohl Gymnasium to improve to 13-5 on the season.
