Women's Soccer Fell Short at Valley

ITTA BENA, Miss. – The Owls women's soccer have mastered the art of putting up a good fight which was evident in its match against Mississippi Valley State University. The Owls defense prevented ten goals but it was not enough to hold off the Devils. The Owls fell 3-0 to MVSU in their sixth loss of the season.

Sarah Gilliland, two-time USCAA Goalkeeper of the Week, defended the Owls goal for the entire 90-minute match. During those 90 minutes, the Brandon, Miss. native prevented nine goals while allowing three.

Offensively, Caroline Grafe stepped up to tally four shots for The W to lead the effort. Several others Owls also aided worked to score for The W. Mackenzie Fennell, Sarah Walden, and Carmin Childs all recorded one shot on goal.  

The Owls will have five days to work on improvements before they travel to Macon, Ga. to take on Wesleyan College on Wednesday, Sept. 19. Kick-off is set for 1 p.m.
