MACON, Ga. - The Owls women's soccer team grabbed its first victory of the season and the first win for the program on Wednesday, Sept. 19. The Owls dominated the scoring effort to defeat the Lions 3-0.
Sarah Walden, junior midfielder, led the Owls offensive efforts. The Pascagoula, Miss. native scored the first goal of the game eight minutes in to put The W on the board early.
Just seven minutes into the second half, Courtney Missouri, junior defensive forward, scored her first goalof the season to push the Owls lead to 2-0. Then 12 minutes later, Walden scored her second goal for the Owls for a final score 3-0.
Sarah Gilliland, playing all 90 minutes, collected her first win of the season in front of the goal with three saves and no goals allowed.
"We are excited about earning a win today," stated Head Coach Gray Massey. "I believe that the team came out and played hard which resulted in a few nice goals. We will take in this victory as we prepare for the weekend matches".
The Owls will be back in action on Friday, Sept. 21 as they host MGCCC in an exhibition match. Kick-off is set for 4 p.m.
