BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The women's soccer team fell, 3-0, against Birmingham-Southern in the midweek match. With this loss, the Owls fall to 1-8-0 overall, while the Panthers improve to 5-2-1.
The Owls challenged the Panthers hard throughout the match to open up scoring opportunities, but were unable to capitalize on the effort.
Owls goalie Sarah Gilliland fought hard to prevent The W loss but could not stop the Panther goals. Playing the entire 90 minutes, Gilliland made three saves with three goals allowed.
On the offensive side, Caroline Grafe and Gabby Gross achieved two shots on goal each. Adding to the effort with one shot on goal each were Chelsey Walker, Irene Mondragon, Sarah Walden and Carmin Childs.
As a team, the Owls tallied 14 shots with eight shots on goal.
An end of the week home game is just what the Owls need to redeem themselves. Friday, Sept. 28, the Owls will look for better luck as they host Judson (AL). The match is scheduled to kick-off at 6 p.m.
