Women's Soccer Delivers 6-0 Shutout at Talladega

TALLADEGA, Ala. – The Owls women's soccer team scored four goals in the first 29 minutes and another two after halftime to win its first game of the 2019 season against Talladega College. The W held the Tornadoes scoreless Saturday afternoon for an impressive 6-0 shutout versus the NAIA opponent.

Senior midfielder Morgan Dennis and freshman forward Lizzie Truelock scored a brace each to lead The W offensively.

Both landed goals on either end of the break with Sarah Walden and Sarah Havens collecting goals in the first half to round out Owls scoring.

Making her first appearance as a member of The W women's soccer team, Merrie Kate Grayson spent the last 45 minutes in front of the goal. In the outing, she secured The Owls shutout with three saves.

The W as a team outperformed the Tornadoes in almost every statistic. The Owls out-shot Talladega 22-3 and had more chances in the corner 12-1.

The W improves to 1-1 on the season. 

The Owls will be back in action on Thursday, Sept. 5 when they host Louisiana College in the annual Faculty/Staff Appreciation.
