HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – Junior forward Sarah Havens completed a hat trick against Oakwood University to lead the Owls women's soccer team in a 7-0 road-victory against the Ambassadors Friday afternoon.
Coming off of back-to-back victories, The W kept the same energy going into the match-up against Oakwood.
Senior forward Chelsey Walker opened up the scoring effort just 39 seconds after kick-off with an unassisted goal past the Oakwood keeper.
The Owls continued their assault on the Ambassadors field to score a total of five goals in the first half. Mackenzie Fennell, Havens, Sarah Walden, and Irene Mondragon scored one goal each with an assist from Fenell and Jazmin Roman to blow past the Oakwood defense for a powerful first period.
Coming back from halftime, it only took two and a half minutes for Havens to connect with a ball from Lizzie Truelock to score her second goal of the game. She repeated the feat just minutes later at the game's 49:50 mark to give The W its last goal of the game.
Not only did Havens lead in goals, but she also led in shots with four.
In front of the goal, Merrie Kate Grayson had a quiet game with no saves and no goal allowed to collect her first win of the season.
The W is now sitting at a 3-1 record and looking to extend its winning streak as they take on Welch College tomorrow, Saturday, Sept. 7 at 11 a.m. CT.
