LAGRANGE, Ga. – After being named USCAA Goalie of the Week, goalkeeper Sarah Gilliland recorded her third shutout of the season as The W (6-4) defeated LaGrange College on Tuesday at Panther Field.
Offensively, senior Chelsey Walker and junior Sarah Havens set the tone in the second all-time meeting between The W and LaGrange.
Havens, who ties two other Owls for most goals on the season, sparked momentum for the rest of the matchup with an unassisted goal in the 14th minute. The goal marked the Hurley, Miss. native's fifth goal in six games.
After carrying the 1-0 lead into halftime, Walker led the charge in the second period by delivering her second goal of the year in the 79th minute. The 5-foot-2 forward was assisted by freshman forward Lizzie Truelock
In the goal, Gilliland played the entire 90 minutes for four saves.
The Owls will be back in action on Saturday, Sept. 28 when they travel to Faulkner University for a 2 p.m. kick-off.
