Columbus, MS – The MUW women's soccer team defeated the Flames of Welch College 14-0 on Senior Day at the Sprint Mart Soccer Complex.
The Owls continue their winning streak at home with four consecutive wins. The Owls kept the same energy going into the match-up against Welch College.
The W's Senior Morgan Dennis put the Owls on the board first with a goal in the 5th minute of play. Dennis led the scoring efforts with more goals. Senior Irene Mondragon and Junior Claudia Passeau followed up the scoring efforts with two goals apiece. The Owls continued their assault on the Flames with one goal each by seniors Mackenzie Fennell, Isaura Camacho, Courtney Missouri, Mary Catherine Hutchens, Sarah Walden, Junior Samantha Weinberg, and Freshman Lizzie Truelock. Senior Hannah Heustess and Mackenzie Fennell also had an assist each to offer.
Not only did Dennis lead in goals, but she also led in shots with ten and eight on goal.
In front of the goal, Junior Sarah Gilliland had a silent game with only one save to collect another win.
The W is now sitting at a 10-6 record and looking to extend their four-game winning streak as they take on Birmingham-Southern Sunday, Oct. 20 at 3 p.m.
