Virginia Beach, VA. – The Owls women's soccer team started off strong in the first game at the USCAA Championship Tournament with a goal in the first five minutes of play by Senior Sarah Walden with the assist coming off a corner kick by Senior Carolina Grafe.
The Bengals fired back shortly after with a goal of their own at the ten-minute mark to tie the game up. From here it was a quiet first and second half as far scoring.
The Owls worked hard both offensively and defensively throughout regulation time, as they were able to get off 7 shots. The W continued to fight against the Bengals forcing double overtime.
The Owls fought hard in overtime but were unable to hit the back of the net, ending in a tied game 1-1.
Senior Sarah Gilliland played the whole 110 minutes in the goal for the Owls only giving up one goal and had 3 key saves for the Owls.
The Owls will be back in action tomorrow Friday, Nov. 8 at 10 a.m. when they take on the University of Maine at Fort Kent again in Day 2 of the Tournament.
