Lyles Named Owls Women's Soccer Coach

COLUMBUS, Miss. – Director of Athletics Jason Trufant and Owls Athletics is pleased to announce the hiring of Catie Lyles as the head women's soccer coach.

"We are extremely excited to have Catie join the Owls family," Trufant said. "Her tremendous experience on and off the soccer field will be a great asset to the women's soccer program and our department."

Lyles comes to The W after spending two seasons at Columbia High School as the head coach of the boys' and girls' varsity soccer teams. As the first coach in the history of the two programs, she had the large task of building both from the ground up.

From 2016-2019, she worked for Hattiesburg Youth Soccer League as its executive administrator. Her duties included running youth tournaments and other daily tasks. After leaving there, she became the program director and girl's academy coach at Southern States Soccer League from 2019-2020.

As an athlete, Lyles played four years of college soccer with a two-year stint at Meridian Community College and a year each at the University of Montevallo and Mississippi College. While at Meridian, she was an integral part of her team receiving back-to-back regional championships.  Following college, Lyles played for the Real United Riverhawks Football Club, an amateur sports team.

"I am very excited to be in this position and join the Owls family," said Lyles.  "This is a great opportunity for me and something that I have always wanted to do.  I am looking forward to a great year with this team and establishing a great atmosphere for them to succeed on and off of the field. The goal for the season would be to create a successful environment that every player will want to be a part of, as well as bringing in experienced players to add to our roster to help us achieve all of our goals. A saying I have kept with me since playing college soccer has been "One Team One Heartbeat" and I plan to pass that along to all of our players and help them understand everything that means."

The Laurel, Miss. native holds a bachelor's degree in sport coaching education from Mississippi College and has her National Youth and National C coaching licenses and is currently pursuing a National B.
