COLUMBUS, Miss. – The W volleyball team will make the 150-mile journey southwest this weekend to compete in the Belhaven/Millsaps Invitational, where the Owls will face Huntingdon College, LaGrange College, Philander Smith College, and host institution Belhaven University.

The matches on Friday with The W playing Huntingdon and LaGrange will be played in The Hangar Dome located on the campus of Millsaps and the Saturday matches against Philander Smith and Belhaven will be played in the Charles R. Rugg Arena at Belhaven.

The W will play Huntingdon at 3 p.m. CT on Friday afternoon in its first tournament appearance before turning around to face the Panthers of LaGrange at 5 p.m CT.

The invitational closes for the Owls on Saturday with a 1 p.m. CT match against Philander Smith before closing it on at 3 p.m. CT against the Blazers.

The Owls will look to keep the momentum going as they defeated Judson College in their final match of the Owls Volleyball Invitational last weekend. Starting the season with a 1-2 record, The W suffered losses against Talladega College and Alcorn State University during its home tournament.

Over the past two season, the Owls have faced Belhaven four times, Huntingdon College three times and LaGrange College twice and have been unable to pick up a victory against the three strong competitors.  The W is hoping to change that this weekend.
