MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Freshman on the course and sophomore on the field Caroline Greer led The W women’s cross country team at Saturday’s 2019 Rhodes Cross Country Invitational at Shelby Farms in Memphis, Tenn. The Owls saw some improvement, running their first 6k of the season, to place 21st in a very crowded field.
NEW ORLEANS, La. – The Owls women’s cross country team competed in its second meet of the season at the Allstate Sugar Bowl Cross Country Festival hosted by Loyola University – New Orleans. The W saw improvements across the board and saw an overall 8th place finish in 5k race.
CLINTON, Miss. – The W men’s cross-country team finished tenth with 253 points, 205 behind first-place University of Arkansas – Pine Bluff to start the season on Friday at the 5,000-meter Mississippi College Season Opener.

COLUMBUS, Miss. - Dedrick Burnett was named as the assistant coach for the Owls cross country and track and field programs. Burnett joins The W staff after spending seven years in Jackson, Miss. as the equipment manager and graduate assistant coach at Jackson State University and a volunteer coach with the Mississippi Trackstars summer track club for youth athletes ages 6-18.
COLUMBUS, Miss. – Athletic Director Jason Trufant and the Owls athletic program announced the Spring 2019 Athletic Director’s List honorees on Thursday, May 30. The list includes 105 student-athletes who achieved a grade point average of 3.0 or better during the spring 2019 semester. Among those recognized, 53 have GPAs greater than 3.5 and 24 achieved a perfect 4.0.
CLINTON, Miss. - The Owls men’s and women’s cross country team competed in the Mississippi College Invitational on October 13. The men ran an 8k and the women ran a 6k.
CLINTON, Miss. - Saturday, Oct. 6, the women’s cross country team competed in the Mississippi College Watson Ford Invitational. The Owls competed against several NCAA DI and DII including Troy University, Tarleton State, Mississippi College, Jackson State, Mississippi Valley State, Southern University, Alabama A&M, and the University of Louisiana – Monroe. They also ran against DIII foe Belhaven University.
Saturday, Sept. 29, the Owls men’s and women’s cross country team competed at the JSU Foothills Invitational. The men’s team finished 20th while the women’s team finished 18th out of 19.
